What is the Point of Prom?

I have a very serious question.

What is the purpose of Prom?

Really, though. It makes girls feel bad about themselves if they don't get asked, kind of like they aren't good enough, you know?

For instance: you have a really great guy friend and you're talking, then he brings up Prom.

Your face:

Then, you see him after a couple of days, and he doesn't say anything. This is concerning because you seemed pretty confident that he was going to ask you to prom.

Your face:

Then he's all flirty with you later, so you really don't know what's going on.

Your face:

Now you don't know what to do because Prom sucks.

DO YOU HEAR THAT, WORLD? PROM SUCKS! IT MAKES NO SENSE, OKAY?
